CPD Passive Acoustic Monitoring (PAM) Training Courses

CRRU's residential CPD Passive Acoustic Monitoring (PAM) training course combines theoretical study with practical experience to equip participants with the necessary skills to perform the role of a PAM Operator.

During this course, trainees will acquire a thorough knowledge of this important role and a broad insight into the industry requirements for PAM mitigation. In addition to detailed theory, the course includes a practical introduction to using and setting-up the PAM system and associated PAMGuard software. This is followed by a practical course component which includes a full demonstration at sea, where participants will get to apply the classroom theory in practice: deploying the system from a boat and subsequently analysing data acquired from real-time acoustic recordings.

The 2.5 day continuing professional development (CPD) course will be delivered by PAM personnel with years of industry experience and acoustic know-how, as well as reference material, practical guidelines, worksheets etc. The cost for the course is £650 per person (which uniquely includes full board (all accommodation (4 nights) and food costs), plus reference material, practical guidelines, worksheets and a species identification handbook).

If you would like to receive a registration form or be added to our email distribution list for future course dates, please contact us at [email protected].

The date for our next PAM training course is:

23 to 25 Jul - with accommodation and food provided from 22 (arrival pm) to 26 (departure am)

Note: you are required to have a scientific background in biological or marine science to attend this course. You will also need a Windows laptop with the PAMGuard Software installed prior to attendance.
