At the Portsoy Traditional Small Boats Festival.
Market research for a social science study on public perceptions towards the marine environment and whales and dolphins.
Stands and exhibits
Stands and exhibits give us the opportunity to go out and meet the general public and talk about our valuable work, research findings, rescue scenarios, volunteer opportunities, and ways in which people can get involved with our organisation.
Commercial boat trips may be a good way to have a close encounter with a whale or dolphin, but we are concerned that whale watching from tourist boats is becoming an increasing source of disturbance to the coastal animals in the Moray Firth, and strongly advocate whale watching from the shore. Public events allow us to discuss the reasons for this with avid dolphin lovers; to advise on the best places to see the animals, and how best to behave in their environment.
Whilst explaining all about our activities and helping us to raise much-needed funds, our stands help us to raise awareness of these animals and their marine environment, to promote schemes to help protect them, and to educate the general public about the threats that European whales and dolphins face.
