JNCC-Approved MMO Training with CRRU

The CRRU JNCC-Approved Marine Mammal Observer (MMO) Training Course introduces the Joint Nature Conservation Committee (JNCC) guidelines for minimising the risk of injury to marine mammals from geophysical surveys, piling and explosives operations in the offshore petrochemical and renewables sectors.

The aim of this 1-day course is to equip those persons wishing to work as an MMO with the necessary knowledge to provide this role effectively, and covers a  range of subjects including: the types of activities undertaken offshore, how to interpret and provide mitigating advice using the JNCC guidelines, how to detect and identify marine mammals at sea and determine their distances from operations, and how to complete the JNCC recording forms and provide the necessary reporting requirements.

As an industry prerequisite, all MMOs wishing to work in UK Continental Shelf (UKCS) waters must have completed this JNCC-approved course.

The course is delivered by experience personnel with over 20 years working experience in the offshore industry and costs £130 per person (which includes complete reference material, worksheets and full marine mammal identification guides).

To book a course with the CRRU (available either in-house or on-line, via Zoom), please email us at info@crru.org.uk for available dates.

The next available course date is Sat 18 Sep 2021.

If you would like to attend, please email info@crru.org.uk to request a booking form with payment instructions for registration.
